The Bonny Comet was founded by four local friends in 2022. Named after one of the founders namesake, Halley’s Comet and paired with a familiar geordie adjective, the idea for The Comet is simple, to bring people together with great food and great drinks. Being residents of Low Fell, the founder’s vision was always to be a part of their community and create a vibrant, inclusive space.

Our ever changing food menu is curated by our head chef, Matthew Hudson. Matt has worked in award winning kitchens within Newcastle and Leeds. Working his way up from kitchen porter to Head chef, he has a unique take on modern British food. A big believer in nose to tail cooking, Matt will often create dishes with lesser known cuts of meat and strives to be as sustainable as possible by basing his menus on the current seasons produce.

Our drinks list has been curated to perfectly pair with our food menu.

We offer a variety of wines, that have been picked for their flavour and individuality, expect to see some unusual origins on the list. Our cocktail list changes with the seasons and we are always creating new recipes and experimenting with homemade ingredients to create the perfect sip. We offer premium spirits as well as a diverse range of beers and lager, with a guest line and bottles that are ever changing.
